The Market

Unlike Internet leads, we can provide you with large quantities of fresh, qualified leads in a targeted area, which can be your Exclusive Territory. We concentrate on the “Joe Average” market. Essentially, the type of people who provide us our everyday services, earn about $35,000 a year individually and $60,000 as a family, and would rather spend their time in more enjoyable pursuits than talking with a life insurance agent. They normally have just bought their first home, usually a three bedroom house for about $150,000  to $300,000 in most areas, or the average price for a three bedroom house in your area; and do not have an existing life insurance affiliation they are satisfied with.

This means that you may be that only agent in the house, and, even if you are not, if you follow our instructions, you will be the last agent in the house.

This market normally cannot afford to purchase a large policy the first time you visit them; the national average for this market is a bit more than $600, however, since the average client is a young, committed couple between 25 and 45, this is a clientele that has an enormous future potential, and will allow you to build an agency.

It is extremely important that you accept that each market has its own characteristics and this one requires its own, unique approach. If you refuse to accept that, and attempt to pound the square peg of the way you have approached other markets into the round hole of this one, you will not obtain the same successful results as others. The Lead

We develop leads from TWO different methods:

Telemarketing

Our clients tell us that this lead is just as good as any direct mail they have ever used.  We believe that is is because we qualify each lead at least four different ways including:

 

  • need (we explain that their mortgage was not protected as part of their loan)
  • urgency (we get a commitment that they will make a buying decision within two weeks)
  • medically qualified (we ask medical questions that would normally show eligibility to table 4)

this allows us to produce a better qualified lead than can be developed by direct mail and has the added option of verifying that the prospect has at least one valid telephone number since we have spoken with them.  Telemarketed leads also have the advantage of being developed within a specific period of time so that you know when you will have your leads.

Direct Mail

This is the traditional method; however, because of rising costs and diminishing returns it may only be profitable in select areas.  We still develop some of the highest return rates in the industry and the leads have extremely high closing ratios but many agents are beginning to consider a properly developed telemarketed lead as more cost effective method to get the best return on their investment.

We do not send the prospect a letter. All of the information they need to make a decision is on the reply card. It will come back to you with their mortgage lender’s name, mortgage amount, name, address, date of birth, and telephone number(s) hand written on it.

The secret of our larger than average response rate and high closing ratio is our ability to market to the right people and cause them to focus on protecting their mortgage. The card clearly explains that you will be contacting them concerning life and disability insurance; however, it does not focus on your role as a life insurance agent. Our experience is that the prospect is more comfortable thinking of you as an individual that is only concerned with assisting them in protecting their mortgage, and not as their image of a life insurance agent who wants to sell them something they can’t afford. The sale will be there for you if you allow it to happen in a manner the client feels comfortable with. After the first mailing, which contains the guarantee, all of the lead cards will be mailed from the client directly to your post office box. No one other than you will see your leads, or even know they exist.

Advantages and Disadvantages to Direct Mail

Direct mail, the way we develop our leads, has disadvantages. It normally takes between ten (10) and fourteen (14) days from the time we mail your order to receive a steady flow of leads. We do not sell a specific number of leads and; although most of our clients get at least a two (2) percent response rate, some as high as five (5) percent; we can not guarantee a certain number of leads from any one mailing. One of the disadvantages of direct mail is that it takes between four and six weeks from the day you receive your first lead until the last one arrives. This is why it is So Important that you order as many mailing pieces as your budget will allow, and you follow up with the next mailing ASAP.  This will help you avoid a period of time where you are short of leads.

How Do I Get Started?
