Is
December The Best Month To Sell Life Insurance?
Have you ever heard an insurance agent loudly
proclaim:
“You CAN’T sell life
insurance in December!”?
Do you believe it?
The real professionals in the life insurance
business don’t, and that’s why so many of them write more insurance in
December than any other month of the year. It’s not hard to understand
why:
- If most of the industry closes shop until after
New Years there will be little competition
- Life insurance is all about love for your
family, and Thanksgiving and Christmas cause people to think about
their families.
There is no question that return rates for direct
mail will be lower during the holiday season, and prospect will be
harder to reach and less willing to make time in their schedule to speak
with you; however, this happens a lot less than you might think because
people care about their families in December, too!
In fact, the agents that look forward to the
Holiday Season do so because they know that prospects do not set
appointments during that time unless they really want to buy
insurance. Imagine making almost every presentation for about six weeks
to a prospect that considers what you are offering to be urgent and
necessary.
Ironically, December sales usually mean a better
start to the new year because:
- Properly made December sales should equal
January referrals (details on how to get referrals that sell are
available
www.LifeLeads.net )
- The income flow (commissions) from December
sales allows for the purchase of leads for January
During this year’s Holiday Season will you be
sharing in the sales opportunity available or will you be sitting on the
sidelines?
